Stranded in Madrid!

When XL airways went down, I was one of the few Brits that were stranded in Madrid. I had the best time in Spain, and just as we were getting ready to leave, this blow hits us. You’d think I would be happy, it means more time in Madrid, only I had work to go to the next day, and the hotel had kicked us out. Getting another room last minute would have cost us more than the entire holiday put together. We ended up sleeping, eating, basically living in Madrid airport. It was not the best, we needed showers, a comfortable place to sleep, more than anything we needed a way to get home! Finally Flybe pulled through for us and placed more frequent routes from Madrid to Manchester, at a reduced cost for XL stranded passengers.

I couldn’t wait to get out of Spain. As much as I loved Madrid, I could not honestly say the same about the airport.
