Madrid Locals

The local people of Madrid are always seen as friendly, welcoming people. However if you annoy them and go against what they are used to, they might take a dislike to you! An example of this is you will often find the locals walking round with no shirt on in the warm climate, however if anyone else does this, they find it rude. Of course, this shouldn’t be the case. It is for this reason that arguments have broken out in the past between local people and tourists enjoying the warm weather.

There are of course 2 main football teams in Madrid and Real Madrid also have a fierce rivalry with FC Barcelona. Real Madrid have a star studded team so a trip to a match is a great opportunity to get some football players photos.

You have to understand the local people in Madrid to not offend them. Treat them with respect and they will keep themselves to themselves and welcome you with open arms to their magnificent country, so everyone is happy!

Know The Climate

Summertime in Madrid brings about very hot and dry weather. Millions of people flock to the Spanish capital just to get a piece of the nice climate action. To really enjoy the weather, it is important that you are wearing the correct clothing for the time of year. Typically the summers are very warm and the winters and very cold and bitter. During summer it would be sensible to wear light clothing and perhaps sunglasses to protect your eyes from the blinding hot sun. To stay warm during the cold Madrid winter days, you need to wrap up warm in several layers of clothing.
Madrid can have extremes in terms of weather.

Many tourists visiting any part of Spain will check the local temperatures before they depart, this is good advice. During summer it may not always be acceptable for tourists to walk round with their shirts off, although you may find the local people often do this to keep cool.

Warm Summers, Freezing Winters

Madrid can be a very pleasant place to be, especially around July and August as temperatures can reach 33 and 34 degrees. This places the City a very attractive location for a convention to be held. When many people are fleeing colder countries to get some sun, people can now combine this escape with a convention, gathering together to share a common interest.

Due to its central location and since it is at such a high altitude the climate in Madrid consists of humid dry summers and chilly winters.  There is such a difference in summer and winter climate in Spain that the locals describe the summer months as the ‘3 months of hell’.

This is down to the intense heat, although, it can be this heat that attracts so many people to convention held all over Spain but particularly in the beautiful Capital, Madrid.

Madrid is Real!

What better way to chill out after a convention than checking out the local football team. It just so happens that Madrid is home to one of the best football teams around, Real Madrid. The likes of Beckham, Raul and Ronaldo have played for this great club, who can blame them being one of the biggest and richest clubs in the world. It is true that with greatness comes rewards and these rewards can be shared with people descending on Madrid for a convention. A trip to attend a convention can turn into a mini holiday, taking in a mix of culture, education and entertainment.

The range of atmosphere and environment simply makes Madrid a perfect choice for convention planners. There is nothing better than chilling out after taking in the excitement and learning curve that occurs within a convention. Next time you are in Madrid attending a convention, take time out to take in the brilliance of Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, the home of Real Madrid.
